Does anyone believe in fasting for weight loss?

by andy on December 1, 2009

I was wondering if anyone has tried this. I dont believe it is good way to lose weight, but when I fast for a while, I notice I dont pig out or crave fatty, rich foods as often. Its like a “fresh start”. Has anyone done this?

Its not really a good way to lose weight, as you’re probably just losing muscle and water etc and will come back as soon as you start eating again, also there can be danger in doing long fasts, more then 2 or 3 days..but you know its probably curing any sugar addictions etc you might have by going cold turkey, so thats probably a benefit..

I don’t think it’s a very safe way to lose weight, but I should also admit that I have not tried it. I think what you’re describing (a decreased desire for certain foods) could be just as easily realized by eliminating those problem foods in your diet for a few days.

There is no harm in fasting. Make sure you drink mucho water though. I will tell you fasting is not used as a weight loss method though losing weight is a nice side effect. A 2-3 day fast will not cause you to become catabolic ( lose muscle ) as your body will be munching on a little booty here and a little love handle there prior to tearing into the good tissue.

Fasting is spiritual, you will lose weight doing this but what most people miss is that without exercise, any diet will not get most people the shape they desire. Hope this helps.
